If you are interested in hearing how three different families started their microboards, the challenges, successes and how they're going, then this event is for you. Hosted by Kathleen Gifford, you'll hear three different beginnings of three different Microboards: Alice Mainland, Wendy Newbery and Carole Vink will tell you their start-up story, then take your questions. A Microboard May Be An Option If You Are:
|
You worry about your children’s future, even more so with a child with special needs. Having a Microboard gives the parent some relief that their child’s well being will be taken care of, with the decisions of the Microboard, which is made up of family and friends. In our specific case we have two daughters and once we are gone, all the decisions are made with a group and will be easier for her.
The Microboard knows the client a lot better and can make better decisions in regards to their health and well being in the future, Eg. Transitioning to different housing, what they enjoy doing, possible health decisions whether they are physical or mental health.
Accountability, you know that the funds are being used to the best of their ability to support the individual.
